Faculty Positions, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor - Statistical Genetics Expertise

The Section on Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics (SSGB), Department of Biostatistical Sciences, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, has tenure-track faculty positions available at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. A Ph.D. in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field is required with expertise in statistical genetics. Duties include collaboration, statistical research, and teaching.
This position is focused on applications in statistical genetics, medical imaging sciences, and in bioinformatics. The activities of the Section and Department in general focus on collaborative research conducted at single and multiple sites located regionally, nationally, and internationally. This group has demonstrated long-standing growth in extramural funding, aiding the development of a rich research environment, and facilitating advancements in a variety of public health disciplines including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, health related quality of life, women’s health, population genetics, and cancer control. Areas of methodological research conducted in SSGB include genome-wide association analysis, population stratification and admixture, imputation, admixture mapping, gene-gene interaction, computational statistics, data mining.
Successful applicants will have experience and strong interest in both collaborating with biomedical scientists and conducting methodological research. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required; a broad theoretical background and experience with SAS and/or S-PLUS in a UNIX environment are recommended.
