Faculty Position: Medical Epidemiologist

Faculty Position in Epidemiology:
The Department of Epidemiology & Prevention in the Division of Public Health Sciences at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine seeks a medical epidemiologist with interest/expertise in chronic diseases for a tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in an existing program in research with a focus on cardiovascular disease, cardio-metabolic risk factors, and obesity.
The Faculty and staff in the Department on Epidemiology & Prevention are dedicated to research and teaching in the etiology and prevention of chronic diseases and their complications. Faculty in the Department of Epidemiology and Prevention participate in a broad range of cohort studies, clinical trials, and community-based research in the areas of aging, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer, and occupational health.
The Division of Public Health Sciences has over 50 faculty in three departments: Epidemiology & Prevention, Social Sciences and Health Policy, and Biostatistical Sciences. For more information, visit: http://www.phs.wfubmc.edu.
Academic rank will be based on the experience of the candidate. Applicants should have an M.D. with additional training in epidemiology or a related field (Masters or PhD). Experience in collaborative research in a multidisciplinary setting and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Preference will be given to applicants who have a strong publication record and demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding. The successful applicant will join a program with a strong tradition in cohort studies (MESA, ARIC, CHS), clinical trials (WHI, ACCORD, Look AHEAD, SPRINT), and healthcare quality research (GLAD HEART). Opportunities exist for medical practice via a joint appointment in a clinical department, and for teaching in the Master of Science Graduate Program or the medical school curriculum.
