IRIS:  A New Tool for Research Collaboration

The Office of Research and Academic Computing announce a new resource for the WFUHS research community. IRIS (Institutional Research Interest System) is an internal web-based tool that researchers and their staff can utilize to search the title, abstract, and/or population of studies involving human subjects which have been approved by the WFUHS IRB. IRIS is located at http://iris.wfubmc.edu.  This link can be found on the Office of Research website (http://www1.wfubmc.edu/or/) and the Faculty homepage (http://infinet.wfubmc.edu/depts/faculty/ ).

IRIS was developed in response to the October 2006 Faculty Research Retreat.  At that retreat, faculty identified collaboration as an important component of the research community at WFUHS and supported recommendations to facilitate collaboration.  IRIS is the first of two new tools to help researchers find potential collaborators.  The second tool, the Faculty Database, is targeted for release later in 2008.

For further information, please contact the IRB office at 716-4542 or Scott Mann in Academic Computing at 716-9361.
