RESEARCH: |
| Dr. Geiger is an population-based scientist with formal training in epidemiology and applied experience
in epidemiology and outcomes research. Her research interests focus on cancer survivorship,
particularly population-based studies of late treatment effects; the impact of health care on survival and
quality of life; the interrelationship of cancer and aging processes; and the translation and dissemination
of proven therapies, behavioral interventions and clinical guidelines into the healthcare delivery system.
After initially focusing on breast cancer, Dr. Geiger has been involved in studies of cervical, colorectal and
lung cancer. She currently is involved in several research studies, including efforts to understand age-
related disparities in cancer treatment and late effects of radio- and chemotherapy treatment in children,
young adult, and adult cancer survivors. In addition to her research, Dr. Geiger leads the Section on
Healthcare Systems and Policy, and teaches health services research, evidence-based medicine, and
measurement methods. |
